James River Parks Winter Bird Count - Held each January in the largest and most unique park in Richmond. It includes over 550 acres of shoreline and islands in the heart of the city, extending from Huguenot Bridge in the West to a half mile beyond the I-95 Bridge in the East. It includes most of the fall line of the James. Rocks, rapids, meadows and forests make for an area of unspoiled natural beauty - a little bit of wilderness in the heart of the city. After a chilly morning of birding the James River Park System in groups, join us for a warm RAS fellowship brunch, hosted at the home of Mary Arginteanu and Larry Robinson around 10:00 AM located near the wetlands section of the park. To join a count birding group contact the Field trips Co-Chairperson.
