Global Warming: Main
How Will It Affect Birds?
As global warming proceeds, more and more bird specie's migrations will be shifted out of sync with that of their breeding habitats, causing problems in obtaining food and avoiding predators. Optimal habitats for many species may not even exist any longer! Wetlands in the Chesapeake Bay region will be flooded as sea levels rise. For songbirds and other wildlife whose populations are already limited by other human-induced problems, global warming could be the last straw. Some leading biologists such as Edward Wilson, Thomas Lovejoy, and Peter Raven say we could lose half of earth's species by the end of this century!
The National Audubon Society embraces the fight to reverse global warming. And throughout the year, you will be hearing a lot about it in The Thrasher, in our announcements at member's meetings.

Remember, only 30% of the power used to make electricity reaches your home, so a light or appliance unnecessarily on wastes a lot of energy! Energy experts tell us we could save at least 25% of our energy and not even feel it!! We use twice the energy per person than do citizens of western Europe!
