About The Field Trip Committee
Trip Organization
The Richmond Audubon Society organizes, equips, staffs and keeps an active roster of birding field trips. Locations vary from local birding hot spots, like Dutch Gap, The James River Parks System, Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens or Bryan Park. We also join state organizations, like the Virginia Society of Ornithology (VSO) on their forays. You need not be a RAS member for most trips, but membership is encouraged. This is a great way to learn where to see nature in the Richmond area and around the state. This committee oganizes RAS sponsored trips and provides a trip leader, sign up sheet of participants and record keeping for recent trips. Attendees on trips range from novice backyard entheuists to life long birdwatchers.
Communication
The other main objective of this committee is to communicate and make available the outings it organizes. Schedules for such trips are made available through the RAS newsletter "The Thrasher," now available online or in print. MEETINGS are also posted on the Activities and MEETINGS page of this website. Last mimute changes to to weather or other unforseen circumstances will be posted there as well.
So what can you do?
