You must sign up in advance; there must be at least four people signed up by 9:00 PM the Wednesday before the trip or it will be cancelled. September 18, Saturday at 8:00 AM - York River State Park
Join us for a 1.8 mile hike at York River State Park. We will most likely be taking the Taskinas Trail. This trail is rated as moderate due to stairs and hills. It passes through field, forest and a boardwalk takes you along Taskinas Creek Marsh Area. Meet at 8:00 AM in the parking lot on the right after you pass through the ranger station near the restrooms. There is a $3 park entrance fee per person. DIRECTIONS: From I-64, take the Croaker Exit 231B. Go north on Route 607 (Croaker Rd.) for one mile, then right on Route 606 (Riverview Rd.) about one and a half miles to the park entrance. Take a left turn into the park.

October 30, Saturday at 8:30 AM until noon - Fisherman Island, Eastern Shore National Wildlife Refuge
Join us as we are escorted by one of the Eastern Shore National Wildlife Refuge (ESNWR) naturalists. Enjoy a walk on this protected island at the southern tip of the Delmarva Peninsula on the Chesapeake Bay. The walk will take us through scrub forest out onto the beach and under the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. Possibilities of shorebirds, raptors, a variety of late migrants, night herons, and water fowl. We meet at the ESNWR visitor center at the north end of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel (Toll currently $12.00). Be prepared to walk in loose sand. Bring binoculars, scopes, water, snacks, rain coat. Dress in layers. The walk usually lasts till about noon. No facilities on the island.
